Currently have a MBRP downpipe to MBRP 4" exhaust. I'd like to upgrade to 5" exhaust but I'm leaning towards a Flo-pro system. Just wondering if the MBRP downpipe will work with the Flo-pro system or if I'd have to change the downpipe aswell?

Yep sure will you are in the clear! I would go back with MBRP though. Flowpro fits like shit

my understanding is unless you are running heavy mods the 5" exhaust is unnecessary.. Am I wrong with this perception?

Black '05 Chev CC SB-8'6" Hiniker V-plow-4" MBRP DP back exhaust-6" tip-AFE Bladerunner turbo intake & S&B intake...100K-barely broke in!

The difference in 4" & 5" is the sound, power doesn't matter. Also, MBRP fitment < Diamond Eye & Flo-Pro.
