LLY to LBZ mouthpiece screwup leads to complete EGR removal

OK I have read all the posts about this and thought I could get er done without too much heartache but NO I can't do anything without having to fix about 3 other things I tear up along the way, so if you are about to make this swap check this out. I didnt really want to grind the flange of my new LBZ mouthpiece so I read somewhere I could bend the EGR cooler bung down a little bit and your good, wrong answer I didnt bend it far at all before it would not go any further. I wanted a lil space in there even an 1/8th of an inch so I would not get any heatsoak from that cooler bung. I ended up grinding some on the mouthpiece, all is well, wrong I had cracked the edge of the cooler bung weld.

I ended up eliminating the entire EGR cooler and valve then made plates to blockoff the exhaust and take the place of the EGR valve.

All the crap I took off today...

torkman15, what type of programmer are you running, to be able to remove the egr unit? I have been wanting to remove mine.

The short version of a long story is I've had HPTuners since I bought my first LS1 Camaro 6 years ago. Tuners has been adding different cars since then and now supports the Duramax, all I had to do was update my laptop. It looks like EFI live is headed in the same direction but started out focusing on the Duramax right away. HPTuners was all LS1/LS6 when I bought it. Both look the same as far as I've seen. Good luck to ya, Tom

Thanks for the info. This is an idotic question but, what do you need the lb7 up pipe for? Would I need one as well when I remove my egr system on my lbz? Thanks
