Removing the cat.

Hey Guys, quick question for those who have lost their cat. Right now I have the lbz mouth piece and resonator plugged, plus my hypertech on level 3 (90hp) and i still have the stock exhaust. Im thinking of removing my cat tomorrow and just welding in a piece of pipe. will this make my turbo sound any louder? will I get more of the "jet engine sound" at idle?I plan on still running the stock muffler for the time being. Im just wondering if the benefits make it worth while, or if i should just leave it alone. Thanks again guys!

Jason

Yes, yes and yes!

you dont really get any of that sound with the cat on but with it off you get all kinds of cool sounds, I like it when you come to a stop and it kicks into a rumble then back into a hiss

Not sure you'll get much with the stock muffler on it. Most of the aftermarket mufflers available aren't that loud at all. But they let the high pitched turbo spool come right through.

Well, I did it! It wasnt too bad of a Job. I remved the v clamp holding the down pipe on and the 4 bolts after the cat and removed the whole section of pipe. I thin cut the cat out, and welded in a 11 1/2" piece of 3 1/2" pipe and bolted it back in. You can definetly hear the turbo more, though the truck isnt too much louder. After I took the cat off I couldnt beleive i lift it on so long! I dont know how the truck could breath through that thing!

Heres a before and after vid. The project cost me a whole $5.58--Well worth it!
