Idahoerob and KB both have custom tunes and others I'm sure also. For someone who has no idea about tuning doe's he need to buy the EFI or can he have his engine tuned without one. Seems a lot to pay for something so advanced and not use it but once to custon tune.
What year truck do you have, You might be able to get the dsp5 0r dsp2 for the lb7 or lly with tunes on it from them or I belive the newer models you can exchange the ecm but you are probably better of getting EFI cause when you add some upgraded parts you can have them send you a new tune and load it yourself. Plus if you buy EFI from some of them they will include a tune or two for you. Check out mmlmm and Rob and see what they can do for you

I'm not the least interested in a lot of tuning. Just going to installed a new mouthpiece and want to increase fuel mileage. Will be using this truck for pulling a 35' rv and driving back and forth to work. Need dependability. By the way, I also have a 05 lly. 4x4 dually, 4-door.
Talk to the tunners and I think you could get the dsp2 with a mileage and a tow tune I've heard or Robs and killerbees tune getting around 24mpgs...

EFILive is probably not for you. I would look into a programmer like a Banks, PPE, Quadzilla, Diablosport, etc. They are more "set it and forget it". And If you want more power, you can reprogram yourself.

I've never found any posts that people get 20+ mpg with any of the programmers except custom tunes with EFI.
I dont believe 10% of those people. Maybe on a flat road with no hills, wind, traffic, 80 psi in the tires. Thats all BS for real world driving. I live in the mountains, the best I ever saw was 19.5 with a completely stock truck. The Driver Info Center is not even close to being accurate, either.

Being that you have an LLY it may be harder to get that high of mileage. With my LB7 I can get 24mpg hand calculated repeatedly on the highway, no BS. I would think with Robs tuning you could get over 20mpg empty on the highway, he got 23.5mpg in the diesel power challenge in his LBZ. I would give him a call to look at your options.
