The most popular tuner seem to be the PPE standard. It has 5 levels ranguing from 40hp to 220hp. Do an egr blocker plate and the PCV reroute fairly quick too.
If your interested in switching to synthetics for MPG and extended oil change intervals let me know I can make it very easy and cheap for you to switch to Amsoil.

It's kind of hit and miss if you will get a code cutting off your cat. Some do some don't. I wouldn't hesitate to get it out of there though. Plus some programmers can block the code, or clear all codes on startup.
Jess can get you a heck of a deal on a whole exhaust system, which would take about the same amount of time to install as just hacking out the cat, and putting in a patch piece. And it would be more beneficial to do the whole system.
thanks yall it came with an mbrp cat back exhaust on it. i am waiting on it to get back from the body shop had a slight fire in the cab a week ago and they are fixing it now but once i get it back i am going to cut the cat off and try and find the money for a programmer
Look at the RPO sticker in the glove box. If you see code FE9 listed you can block the EGR, strait pipe it, and do mostly anything you want and never throw a code. If its not an FE9 (federal emission) truck then you either have to get a block and fingerstick kit ($60 delivered) or get a tuner that deletes the codes set by free flowing exhaust and blocked EGR.
