Smile Project NeedsAName Phase One: Baseline Tests

Wish us luck boys! My father and I will be @ Mike Dez Racing in Seekonk @ 5pm tonight for baseline dyno pulls. The 05 LLY has 111k miles, is absolutely bone stock (except for the resonator plug, looks so much better). This truck has lived WAY too easy of a life this long so we're hoping to turn her into a fire breathing dragon.

I'll post up tonight with the results and rattle off the parts sitting in the garage awaiting install.

I'll take some pics too.

Regards, Erik

Sounds like fun!!

First mod: turbo mouthpiece.

Second mod: Exhaust & gauges

Third mod: EFI Live

Fourth mod: tie rod sleeves

Fifth mod: Suncoast Stg 4 tranny

Sixth mod: lift pump

Seventh mod: turbo

Eighth mod: full motor build $$$

Obviously there's other small things on the way, but get up to #7 and you'll be in the 600hp range. Then it'll be a matter of when you need to build the motor not if!! LOL.

She'll breath fire, and smoke, and lots of noise!! Hope the hg's hold up for ya! What all do you have waiting to be installed?

gr8shot, in no paticular order:

- Banks 6gun w/PDA w/pyro

- Banks airbox w/super scoop

- Banks 4in turbo back, cat & muff delete

- Kennedy Diesel block off plate w/fingerstick

- LBZ mouthpiece

- PCV re-route

That's the basics, I'm sure there's something I forgot. That should give me a Mild Mannered Dragon at a minimum, fire breathing being more of a long term goal.

Also, I'm all ears if anyone has a good name for the project. She's a white crew cab SLT/3.

Thanks! Erik

I would go with something over the Banks 6 gun, if you would like more power potential.

Though I'm sure plenty of other tuners make way more power, I think the inherrent safety and lack of black smoke are two charactoristics I'm looking forwar to the most, after the power of course. If I go any crazier I can only imagine having to buy trans parts which I'm not really ready to do at this point.

You can always tune down with a hot chip but you can never go up with a mild one

- Banks 6gun w/PDA w/pyro - proven to be a great tuner on several Duramax trucks. very clean tunes..

- Banks airbox w/super scoop - a bit spendy, but a very cool unit. I'd like to have one too

- Banks 4in turbo back, cat & muff delete - The Banks system is very competitive on pricing with exhaust!

- Kennedy Diesel block off plate w/fingerstick - good idea

- LBZ mouthpiece - good idea

- PCV re-route - good idea

Erik-

My man... spend some time searching and asking questions on the site before you buy...

Anyone rolling a "fire breathing dragon" whip has, or envy's EFI Live. Period. There is not another tuner on the market that can compete with EFI.

Please let me know if you need help with any of your decisions from guys that test on the log, on the track, and on the dyno.

Good luck with the dragon... let us know if we can help.

Jess

you are going to want EFI Live. Especially if you are going to spend time on the dyno and add mods all the time.

Why get a tuner that was tuned for a standard truck with no mods? You need to get custom tuned for you exact mods done to the truck, and for the style of driving with the truck. Plus with LLY, you can go with a DSP5 switch

Banks is great if you have an LMM with a DPF. Dont waste your time on that crap. Youll still get smoked by ricers. Get EFILive first. I, along with many others here, run in the 12's and dont smoke. Plus its custom for your truck, has data logging and switch on the fly tuning for the LLY. You can have anything from mild towing power to all out drag racing.

I may have overstated the need for power, it's also mileage and longevity. Every Banks truck I've had the chance to drive has impressed me also. If it's not everything they claim it to be I'll move on.
