With being a new owner of duramax What is the best bang for the buck with upgrades to get the best fuel mileage I can get? Straight Pipe and Intake to open things up a little more? You hear talk of straight piping and losing MPGS?..All input it welcome..I figure one of those AFE pro dry intakes and that expandit system for sale on here would be a start

strait pipe wont loose mileage thats on gas engines. intake wont do much either. get a good tuner and do the turbo mouthpiece mod for the best bang for your buck...however the exhaust would be a very good idea to keep your egt/s down if you get a programmer

yea welcome by the way i forgot to say that the first time... most guys on here will say a new intake isnt necessary until you have real big hp. however like mine your lly has a terrible turbo mouthpiece. you can buy a new one thats good from a guy on here called killerbee or buy one from a lbz truck from a dealer and put it on but from what i understand it takes some mods to fit correctly

welcome to the DF..
a 4" exhaust with the Cat delete pipe would be a great idea along with a CAI,like mentioned some say you dont need them and to be honest you wont see a night and day difference but they do help..
heres a lil list that will increase 3-5MPG depending on driver.going off our experience
AFE Stage 2 Pro Dry with ported mouth piece.
Banks is also a great choice on CAI.
4" Turbo Back MBRP 409SS.
Gauges to keep an eye on your EGTs and Boost.
and last but not least a programmer from PPE or better yet EFILive and never look back!
for your trannys safety DO NOT add more then 90-100RWHP or plan on a tranny upgrade(the PPE numbers are rated on the crank)..

I agree with everything stated above but will only add that you will also see benefits from switching ALL of your Drive Train fluids over to full synthetics. There are customers reporting gains of up to 8% increase in economy before any other upgrades with FULL drive train change.
