Exhaust and air system?

I bought an 04 duramax about four months ago. I am now settled in with my payment and am looking to start up grading on parts. The whole truck is stock no performace parts on it yet. I was going to to start with an intake and exhaust system. For these what would you all recommend I buy? I just dont know about things like are duals going to benefit me more or just hurt my wallet and what type of air intake to get. You help would be appericated.

Silverline and mbrp make good systems. I'm running an aem workhorse on mine. I've got a single silverline and like a lot. mine is turbo back.

volant cai with scoop and mbrp duel exhaust, no cat & muffler, diamond eye turbo downpipe, bd exhaust manifold.......this would be a good start, beef up the transmission next and then add tuning, I prefer efi live, but there are several decent handhelds out there also, my favorite being ppe stacked with van aaken if you dont go the efi route.

what is the difference?

what is the difference between the 304ss and 409ss mbrp turbo back exhausts?

is it just a different type of steel or what? cause they are both stainless steel right? except the 409, im pretty sure, is cheaper?

Question Diesel Newbie

I've been looking at getting a new intake as well and found this one on the internet for pretty cheap, has anybody tried it?

CAI

The only thing I'm afraid of is I have read that oiled filters can cause problems, and some others, (like the K&N) let too much dirt and dust in. I want the performance, but I want a safe alternative to stock.

the 304SS is stainless steel and the 409SS is glorified metal(just being sarcastic)but what i'm trying to say is the 409SS is classed as a SS metal but it will rust after some time but for the money you save i wouldn't worry.i'm runnin 409SS on my truck and so far so good.

I have the same question as FireFightinHD; from everyone's research into exhaust systems and air intakes, which ones are factually sound products? I have a SuperChip tuner, which works great, performance is outstanding! Now I'm taking the next step and wanting to install an exhaust and air intake system. I might go with the T304 SS, but since I'm only going to be in DC for a few more months and moving back to Texas, I'm not sure I'll need it. I listened to the MBRP on their web site, but it seems to lack in authoritative sound! However, this could just be the web site; I'm not criticizing it.

Any sound and proven advice is greatly appreciated. Forums like this one with advice from you all will prevent this old novice from making costly mistakes. Thanks in advance.
