I have an 05 GMC LLY D-Max. I drive alot of highway miles and enjoy the truck tremendously. I'd like to add something like a 6 gun tuner. I enjoy large amount of horsepower/torque but will never really need something as radical as 150HP/230Lbs/Tq.
Should I invest in a tuner/programmer or a system like the banks six gun?
I'd like maybe 50-100 extra HP with about the same for TQ.
I DO NOT want to grenade my Allison Trans, I dont want to come close to that. I need my truck to be as relaible as possible with some added performace for fun. I need my truck to get to work, U kno?
There are so many different tuners/programmers/modules out there I have an idea of what I want. but what do you think? what have you had sucess with? What breaks parts?
Your best bang for the buck is going to be the diablosport predator. You can pick one of those up for about 300 brand new. If you want to spend a little more, get the PPE economy and that will good for what you want to do. I think it runs about 400-450. As long as you keep your settings to 100hp or less, you should be just fine with your tranny....also, don't drive it like it was stolen all the time. That is pretty hard to do when you get used to having the extra power though. I find myself racing stoplight to stoplight.

i would get something like ppe or efilive.
i got alot more milage and power with my efilive tunes than with my predator. the predator might only be 300 but remember you get what you pay for.
