Angry Help

OK I have a question. Let me set the premise first. I have the following on my 2005 lly
1) 4” exhaust
2) Edge w/ Attitude
3) Airaid Intake
My questions or problem is I tow a travel trailer about 8000 to 9000. Every time I tow (in any level 1-3) even on flat highways my GET go trough the roof to over 1300 quickly and then my truck goes into limp mode and the check engine light goes on and I have to pull over. It is frustrating OK I have a question. Let me set the premise first. I have the following on my 2005 lly

Thanks Chris

Maybe I'm wrong...but when towing...if you don't have an aftermaket kit on your tranny...and you are running a tune....I don't really think it's good for your stock tranny. That's probably why you are going into Limp-home mode. And everytime you Limp it...it gets easier and easier. Plus when you are towing that much...it strains your engine, making it work harder, therefore EGT's will be higher....with added HP...your EGT's will be even higher. Try putting the truck to stock and towing that way...see what your EGT's are then and see if your tranny limps. If you tranny limps stock...you might need to do a rebuild. If your EGT's are high...like 05_LLY said...check the fuel filter and fluids..make sure all openings are clear.

do you get a 2K rpm gov when it goes into limp mode?if so it could be a couple of things, for starters a weak Fuel Rail valve(or something like that)or the Fuel Regulator is going bad and you can tow with the Edge installed but that still doesn't explain the high EGT's,try uninstalling the Edge and see what happens..just some thoughts

Thanks guy's, just to answer a few questions. I have changed the fuel filter twice and have tried to use additives. As for the limp mode, it does put a 2000-rpm gov on the truck. I have towed on stock no problems. I have uninstalled the Edge and I have hade no problems. Shouldn’t I be able to tow with the Edge?
I have a few questions what is a shim kit. What should I expect from an aftermarket fuel pump?

You should be able to tow with the edge on level 1 or 2 maybe, that is kinda weird. as to the shim this should answer your question 2004.5-2006 LLY & LBZ 6.6L Release Valve Shim Kit [Shimkit] - $9.99 : Pacific Performance Engineering, Diesel Performance Technolgies, and the aftermarket fuel pump probably wouldn't do you any good since the engine is not demanding more fuel than the stock pump should be able to supply, but if you do go that route it will defintely be able to flow more fuel if the programming demands it.

my advice is sell the Edge and buy a Diablo or a PPE and don't look back..a lift pump will helps for better fuel flow but not really necessary in your case..i would do the EGR block plate and if you go to all the trouble of doing a shim kit do the race vavle right away(same diff.)i did it on my Duramax's and i never lost fuel economy but i do have better fuel flow but then again i'm runnin more HP then you are..

the Edge has been known to cause problems
