Question Kicking the Dead Horse

Hey yall, I know that all I'm doing is kicking a dead horse here but I have some general (and probably dumb) questions. Basically I'm wanting my 3500 dually to get mileage and haul out on the drag strip. Right now I have a BullyDog programmer on my 05 and am looking for something more. I've done the basics like gauges and a 4" exhaust. I see alot about PPE programmers but are they worth it? Can I stack chips safely on a LLY or is it too risky when I'm pulling a 13,000 lb. horse trailer very often. If I can, do any of them come with a monitor so I can check other things than pyro and boost? I figure that I'm going to have to upgrade my tranny to handle this, right? I'm a trucker by profession and trim hooves on the side so when I'm not working I want to ride, not put a tranny upgrade on my truck so is there anywhere around central Illinois (within 300-500 miles) who I can send my wife to in my truck to get the tranny upgraded with a shift kit, or a torque converter, or can I just buy a re-programmer for it? I've seen alot about transgo on this site, what is it and is it what I need? Are injectors easy/affodable/smart to swap? My son did it on his 24valve and it woke that motor up. Any help would be awesome!

Well in your case it sounds like the PPE would be good for you. The only thing you will have to be changing tunes alot because when you pull that horse trailer I wouldn't put anything more than about 30 extra HP's to the factory tranny with that big of a load. Secondly don't try stacking chips, it can be done but you will probably end up causing more problems than it's worth. Staking is just to unpredictable and the rsults are too costly. Quadzilla just came out with a new stand alone monitor that allows you to monitor multiple readings like the edge attitude but it doesn't need the chip to work. As to your transmission probably your best bet would be to start saving and look into replacing it with an upgraded aftermarket one like suncoast or ATS. They are pricey but it's money well spent. The transgo stuff and torque converters are good but it really only allows you to run about 160HP extra at the rear wheels. Factory you can run about 90HP extra to the rear wheels. Injectors are not bad to do but you probably won't see the kind of gains your son did with his dodge. New aftermarket injectors will probably run you about 1200-1500 or more installed on your truck.

the OEM Durmax injectors will easily feed a Duramax enough fuel for 500RWHP so doing aftermarket injectors won't get you the gain your son did on his CTD..
do a PPE Standard tuner(with the PPE you can always upgrade to the bigger tunes at a latter date)along(for gauges do the Quadzilla commander)with the Stage 3 Sun Coast w/t 1056 Torque converter and put the PPE on the 3rd level for towing and run the 4level for horsin around and don't look back at the competion..

Actually according to crankitupdiesel.com stock duramax injectors are good up to 600RWHP
