Exclamation Help!! "Limp Mode" with Power Pup ??

I've been using the Bully Dog Power pup for a few months, with one problem. If I run it wide open to red line/shift point in any gear the engine will go into "limp mode" (dont know the proper term) and will not go over 2,000RPM. If I stop and shut the truck off and restart it, it goes back to normal.. I’m thinking it's over-revving?? Because if I lift before redline (let it shift) then get back on it everything is ok..

Thoughts??...

What power level are u running? Do you get a check engine light? Will the power pup read codes? Dose it shift through the gears after it goes into limp mode? IT could either be limping because of low fuel pressure, (dirty fuel filter) . Or u are slipping the trans ( back the power down)

I would throw a fuel filter on it, sounds like the problem! How many miles are on ur current filter?

Not sure really, I just got it a few months ago. The dealer told me they did a full service on it, but who knows. I've had one service done since but didn't do the fuel filter. It’s going in next week, all make sure they do it. That would be a pretty quick fix, I hope you’re right.

Let me ask you something else... I run the BD in tow/Econ 99% of the time cause I’m afraid to do any damage to the motor.. If I run it in performance mode (not extreme) will it cause any damage?? I’m not racing the thing, I just like to let it eat and throw some smoke from time to time.

I would say it is fine to run it in perf. IT is better to run it on one setting rather than change levels. When u chsnge levels the trans has to go through a relearn process!

Aslo cold weather will magnify a low fuel pressure situaion due to the thicker fuel!!

10 - 4 on the too cold!!!!

Yeah change the filter, cold temps, +dirty filter, +tuner = a real good chance of a p1093 code(low rail psi) causing limp mode!

I would say it is your fuel filter. I was having the same problem with my bully dog but after i changed the filter you could run it on crazy larry(120 hp) and not go to limp mode.
