mine has been throwing the 401 code for insufficiant EGR, which as you said doesnt do much but after driving for a while with it on I also get another code 404, which does indeed mess with the truck.....limp mode of sorts....very reduced power. my fingerstick is on the way as well, hopefully takes care of both issues!!!
hmmmm.... 404 shouldn't cause a limp if i remember right...

Ats is relabeled PPE...i dunno about RBP...its possible but i dont think so...i dont think it has close to the same power as a hot+2
and im not 100% sure ppe and quad even do that...i think they do but again not sure...someone who sells them would know for sure
I'm glad someone said it! I've been wondering why mine looks so much like my buddy's bully dog. It has to be a relabeled tuner, because the one they sell now is completely different than the one I own. I know this because I requested a PDF owner's manual.
This thing is kinda screwy, but it does what I need it to do. It whipes DTCs, programs, and recalibrates the speedo. I wish I could run an update, but I'm gonna wait and go with EFI live as soon as I can.

OK I got the stick installed last night!!!! So far so good! drove to work today with no codes. (this has not happened since the EGR blocker install) Codes that were throw are as follows, 401, 404 and 101.
401 and 101 had no affect on the truck other than the CEL. when the 404 showed up it would act as though there was no tune on it. went fine. just very sluggish. no rpm limit, no 3rd gear lock. Just acted weak. only could get 15 psi out of the boost, EGRs were way down as well. Once the code 404 was cleared it would go right back to normal. just FYI, I was under the assumption when I installed the blocker that I would not have any issues, as that is why I made my own plate instead of purchasing both plate and stick at the same time. I just wanted othere to be aware

I need a fingerstick ASAP! I'm about to drive across the country and did the EGR block off, and I'm throwin codes. If any of the vendors could hook me up with some good shipping it'd be greatly appreciated. We're moving in 2 weeks from today.
What were the codes you saw?

My '05 acts the same way. Ran very strong until I put on 4" straight pipe. Now it goes sometimes and other times I wait ....There's a thread on here somewhere about this. Seems the California Emissions trucks are very picky about the EGR block. Both my trucks were dealer swaps from New England With CA emissions
I'm throwing 0401 and 0404. Its strictly the EGR, and I just need to get the comp flashed with a finger stick. You could also just unplug it, but I don't like doing that because you can open up possibilities as far as what else is routed through that same plug.
I've got the 4" straight pipes turbo back as well. I ordered the fiingerstick as a quick fix until I'm able to afford EFI Live or at least get a friend who has the ability to tune it out.

Fingerstick installed. Someone really needs to take the time to do a proper write up on the install, though. Nothing against Kennedy Diesel, but I definitely got confused with their directions a couple of times.
If anyone here is in Ga, and are doing this mod, please let me know so I can stop by and lend a hand as well as take pics for a in depth HOW TO.

It's a circuit fooler, that causes other problems from time to time.
The codes come from ECM derived programming. It is best to deal with them (once and for all) with programming.
FWIW, the condition that created the codes still exists. It's just covered in duct tape now...unworthy of a good write up, IMO.
I agree that its best to deal with through tuning, but in the same breathe, not everyone is able to go out and spend that kinda money to fix a DTC problem.
I still think I'm gonna help with a write up, because duct tape or not, there are at least a hundred guys using the fingerstick, and at least a hundred more who want it. You gotta remember that the guys who are DIYing it, are usually those of us who are on a budget build where the extra cash can go to something else.
I'll keep in mind what you said to include in the write up.

I wouldn't either.
