KB is right the metal cannot flow as well. that is why for example the k&n intake that is metal does not flow as well as the plastic. just look at the casting in the afe then look at how smooth the lbz is. i still am running the afe but would like to see a smoother one made. just my.02
metal and plastic flow exactly the same...heat transfer is another story..
you must like the smell of bullchit

he is referring to the molding/casting consequences on the respective material. Sand casting (aluminum) can leave a surface that is anything but smooth.
It may or may not be a factor.
Heat Transfer: Residence time in the conduit is about 0.01 seconds. Poop aside, there are no measurable heat transfer consequence differences between the 2.
i dont care either way 100 bucks more for afe brand name crap is not worth 9 % more flow ur not gona notice 9% flow air difference buy the lbz for 80 bucks cut ur intake tube and get a 4inch no hub connector and watch ur egts drop done deal imoif u got money to burn buy brand name but thats not me man

I ordered the AFE and installed it. It was a good addition to the Quadzilla programming. I have to original mouthpiece I took off if anyone want to buy it off me and bore it out themselves.. I wasn't going to do it..

Installed my LBZ MP i ordered from GM parts direct yesterday and i noticed the difference immediately. The response of the throttle and turbo spool caught my attention right away, truck pulls much harder now and responds much better. Also i noticed that the old MP had a build-up of gunk around where the PCV valve was from before i blocked it. If anyone has not blocked theirs i highly recommend it.

The gunk bildup is largely a result of the restriction that was causing your performance loss.
Once Induction Overhaul is done, there is a highly reduced need to relocate the PCV, the suction is mostly gone, and the oil (which hurts nothing anyway) is greatly reduced.
ok so if anyone out there with a banks ram air intake is out there and thinking off getting a lbz mouthpiece FORGET ABOUT IT RIGHT NOW!!! i wanted to kill myself trying to make it work with the reducing diameter intake tube on the banks is near impossible and the size is between 3 and 4 inch so you can get an actually coupler for it you need to nig rig it..
so if you have a banks intake heed my word and spend the extra on the afe piece trust me you'll be sorry if you dont...i am
