Duramax Chip

I had an '02 Duramax with an older "VanAiken" chip. It was a plug and play, 'always-on' chip. I got great power and no issues with it. My truck always started and ran well. My temps rearely got past 1150 except when towing. I'd have liked a bypass switch to detune when my temps got up there. I read a few things about Bullydog and heard their approach to power was not wise for this motor. If I still had my truck, i'd go with Banks because they had the R&D in their product and test everything they sell. I also had a 4" pipe, straight muffler, Exhaust temp and boost guage with temp probe, Air box with K&N filter. I didn't have problems with codes but under power, I made some smoke. I had about 40k on the chip.

My next truck will have the Banks. With the PDA it's so easy to dial it in and monitor. Are the 1450 Egts a problem? Did you install the bigger intercooler or the waste gate?

For the cost of the Banks kit you can get alot more stuff. Banks is way overpriced and impossible to deal with. They cut out all of us dealers. They do build SOME nice stuff, but for the most part you are better off looking elsewhere.

What are you looking to do with the truck?
How much more power do you want?

I ran the triple dog(bully dog)and the extra power was awesome but i didn't gain any fuel mileage so changed out to ppe hot et 2 and on setting 3 adds extra 160 hp and the fuel mileage went from stock 15.8 to average of 19 to 20 on the highway.if u don't mind spending, the best avalible is efi live.just my experience.

Where can I look up the "efi live?" Also, I was at the builder's covention last week in Orlando and saw the new Duramax 2500. After talking to the GM rep, it looks like it will be a stretch to add a chip to that motor with all its pollution control systems w/o creating problems.
