Guage lights

Hi. I am installing a boost guage and a pyro guage this weekend on my truck. I was wondering has anyone hooked the lights in the guages up so when you dime your dash lights the guage lights dime. I am a great machanic but I suck at electrical. Any help would be great. My truck is a Chevy 05 LLY if that helps. Thanks for your time. I did a search and could not find what I needed.

I would find a wire schematic and tap into the harness. Good Luck

If you will pull the headlight switch out of the dash you can tap into the actual dimmer wire. On mine it was the Brown with white stripe wire.

Cool that is what I thought. I just wanted to make sure before I started to rip the dash apart.

It was real easy. Pull the trim ring loose, you don't have to remove it all the way, just enough to get the headlight switch box out. To remove the box there was a clip on top and 1 or 2 on the bottom, you'll see how they work when you look at it, the box will just pop out. Good Luck.

I just wired my boost gauge and I pulled the dash trim and the guage cluster and tapped into the wiring harness that plugs into it. You can take your wire from the gauges and plug it into the harness to find the wire that controls the dash lights. For my truck it was a red wire.

Had to go out and check. I had not tried to dim them. It does dim but not at the same rate as the dash lights. I also saw that Autometer makes a dimmer switch for there gauges if you have that kind. Hope this helps.
