The EGR block plate is used to block the EGR and not let the exhaust gasses recirculate. You exhaust will work fine without it. EGR plates are a great idea if you plan to keep the truck for any duration of time.

In that case, I'll go with the blocker. It seems alot of people are saying the fingerstick is a waste in a 05 LLY, is there any benefit?

I can not find the egr block plate anywhere. I need one bad. I just took my intake elbow off the other day and i do not see how my engine gets enough air. The elbow was about 1\4 plugged. i wonder what the rest of the enine looks like.

For the LLY look on Ebay, Merchant Automotive :: Duramax and Allison Experts, and www.kennedydiesel.com

All three should have them.

i have an 06 lly i just ordered the egr block plate should i need a finger stick or will it not throw any codes?

i hope to buy a blocker plate soon. i have afe9 truck so hopefully i don't need a fingerstick. unless my ppe tunes it out?
