Drilling thru Firewall

I'm getting ready to instal a pyrometer. I've located the wires I need, but I can't really figure out where to drill thru the firewall. Can anyone direct me to an easy location to come thru. I admit I'm not much of a mechanic, so i don't want to mess something up when I drill. It just doesn't look the same from inside the truck as it does underneath. I'm mounting the gauge on the pillar. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The grommet as stated above, or the boot around the steering shaft.

Just installed mine yesterday. There are 2 grommets. 1- 2inch diameter and 1- 5inch diameter grommets behind the fuse box. The fuse box is easy to remove and i found the smaller grommet easier.

the best place that ive always drilled through is if you look on the drivers side firewall on the engineside there should be a bare spot on the insulation about 2" in diamater with a small dimple in the center almost like a large center punch mark, puts the hole about 2 inches above the throttle pedal braket easy to put a groment or put a dab of silicone on the hole
