at 6000 ft elevation, a boost controller on top of (any) tune that adjust vane maximums, will toast the turbo in about 30 seconds of use. The placard speed limit is 116,000 rpm. These conditions will expose the turbo to 200,000 rpm. This applies to the LLY.

To answer your question, the issue is fixed with an INDUCTION OVERHAUL KIT. You won't know what 31 psi really feels like until you do this project.

at altitude the mechanical stress on the turbo will break it at these levels. Pressure ratios go well over 8.0 and the turbine shaft power nears 300 HP. Insane.

FWIW.

By fixing the inlet restriction, that 8.0 comes down to Page Ranking of 4.5.

I have shaved my intake and I'm seeing up to 37 psi on a mechanical boost gauge, which is installed just after the turbo outlet ( pre CAC ). Running PPE hot+2 on 220 hp @ 2800 ft elevation. First tank of fuel after altering mouth piece, 14.o6 mpg - city driving + a few burnouts and drag races, Not too bad IMO.

The "induction overhaul kit" and "True" CAI adds another measure of economy improvement, as well as boost production. The mouthpiece "dremel" project addresses about half of the restriction. The "kit" cuts removes all excess compression heat. The formation of this compression heat is the main wall to boost production, and the cause of LLY load overheating. The kit fixes many issues that appeared in the debut of the LLY.
