I do thank you all for the responses. Which programmer offers the best protection. Also, it appears that Edge does not offer the insight for the 04 LLY which I do not understand. It also seems the Evolution would suffice, but it also is not offered for the 04 LLY. what about de-fueling..how important is it and does PPE and Edge de-fuel. Again my needs are mild HP gains and fuel economy

Defuel is very important for a stock tranny. As far as i know all of the programmers de-fuel, but there are only a few that you can turn off de-fueling. What it does it cut you back to stock power during the shift so you tranny can engage completely before putting the power back to it.

The edge was the first programmer I bought an I now run a PPE. For what you want the Edge will do just fine. Enough power to mess up the transmission if you choose to run it hard and the fuel economy was very good on mine. It is hard to beat it with the gauges. If the Edge detects the transmission is slipping it will reduce the power to try and save you. I love my PPE for the crazy power but I would buy another Edge if I had a stock truck and was looking for a little power. Good luck.

I was in the same boat as you a month ago and ended up going with the edge w/ attitude and love it.I'm not sure about the mileage gain because I can't seem to take it off level 3 and gunning it.I did notice a gain in mileage on the level 1 setting but I got my exhaust at the same time and between the power gain on level 3 and the awesome sound coming out I can't stop unleashing the horses. The gauges are great to have,I know they aren't as accurate as regular gauges but you can monitor up to 4 different things and it's a small easy to install unit.Hope this helps............goodluck.
