What do i need for 600hp ?

Had this up in Aftermarket Performance part of this forum, nobody got any answers there... so i pasted it over here;

what do you recommend on the LLY motor for upgrades... ?

i would want to be running around 580-620hp...

something that makes me able to smoke just about anything...

and since i am new to this Duramax thing...

what rear-end do these trucks have, what LSD and do i have to upgrade the rear end for this kind of power ???

Sincerely,
Viktor Agnar from Iceland

First off you will need a good programmer. PPE and EFI are the hot ones for the d-max. Some guys are adding a FASS fuel system to give it plenty of fuel supply. But most important you will need to upgrade your stock tranny. Suncoast or ATS are popular brands. But be prepared to shell out some serious money to be able to hold that power. As far as the rear end it should be 3.73 ratio, and you really shouldn't have to do much to it. Bigger exhaust without the cat will help it breathe and keep EGT'S down.:cool

I've had two Dmax's in that HP range. You'll need:

Trans upgrade
fuel upgrades
Turbo upgrade, or N2O

You'll be pushing the stock internals at that HP level.

What Rob said.

Everything I hear says 600+ you are on borrowed time.

You might be surprised just how fast a 550-600hp truck can be. Fast enough to smoke most anything on the road up to about 110mph. Above that, well, it is a truck after all . . . . .

Tires, that sort of depends on use. If you will be on the streets and not loaded down with lots of weight you can look at some of the sport truck tires for traction and handling, not to mention speed rating. If you want to go fast you need the right tires. Toyo Proxies, Nitto has some nice ones, Good Year, ect.
