all of the 06 models had the 6 speed alli, LLY and LBZ. They swapped to the 06 LBZ with all of them built after 01-01-06.

My belief is that the LLY has a different CARB standard than the LBZ, emissions certified to different requirements. Besides some tuning changes to the ECM, there are no other differences.

I think the 05 is more capable actually. Either is easily tuned to a 500HP level.

Does anyone no for sure if the dealership can turn the LLY's power to the LBZ power.
The look of everything under the hood is exactly the same as my buddies LBZ. I don't see what the big deal would be.

The '06 LLY is mechanically the same as the '06 LBZ, just different tunes...so when you pop the hood beside each other, they're the same.

The straight answer is, the dealer will never do this for you. To be honest, none of them even know how. Even if they did know how, they would technically be commiting a "clean air act" federal offense. (don't ask).

I am not a dealer, but my basic understanding is that the VIN controls the PN of the tune components that the vehicle recieves per GM spec. If they used an LBZ VIN, then you might be able to do a flash with the right components. They probably also risk damaging something.

HOWEVER, with EFILive, you can put the LBZ parameters into the LLY very easily, then you have essentially identical vehicles. I have done this.

That should answer your question.

That is correct everything is vin driven, and those guys get scared shi$less when thay are crossing lines like that I have seen a few PCM's locked up and then who's to blame?
