Yep,I have towed 16k with no trailer brakes on a twin axle[7500 lbs. axles]22 ft. bumper pull and never had trailer brakes or a problem stopping.That is keeping at 60-65 and mostly on rural roads,away from the po po's..really 15k is not an issue for a Dmax to tow..

38K behind it is quite a bit though.

But she handles it, I never go over 60 and never touch the interstate, and manually do downshifts.

You should also tow with the "Tow-Haul" system on. That will also help you slow down and take some pressure off the brakes.

Ya that sounds strange. I towed 12K and the trailer breaks sucked. My tk stopped fine. Obviously not like it was unloaded. But it was ok.

With EFILive it is possible to create an exhaust brake with no equipment cost.
