They are replacing my 3rd glow plug in 5,000 miles and told me today the tip broke off as they were removing the glow plug and now they must remove the head to get the piece. I am worried that taking everything off to fix this problem they will screw something up. I was getting very good mpg and the truck ran great. The truck only has 13,000 miles. Should I be worried about them having to remove the head? The work is being performed by a dealer that has been very nice and accommodating.
did the truck somehow make it past the reflash for the Glow plug module control?that was a issue with the 06's pretty early on.They knew, demand new engine at 13k miles..Do not be had!!

hope they screw it up,then make em replace entire engine..I wouldn't settle for the head being removed that early....no way

I have heard of that happening in a older diesel, but this is the first d-max that i heard it happen too. As i wouldn't be happy about them having to remove the head this soon, but you really don't have much of a choice. I would hate to try and fish it out of the glow plug hole and then miss a piece and end up wrecking a piston. I would have to say let the tear it down so they can make sure to get it all out.

Ive heard of that happening as well. I wouldnt be real worried about it though! You should get the same MPG that you did before.
If you do anything tell the service manager your nervous and ask them to make the warranty longer! Since it was there fault the tip broke they migth raise it!
