so i had to sleep in my truck last nite...

last nite i headed up north and got to a small town that i had to fly out of early in the morning. there was nowhere to stay with the hour i got into town at so i had to sleep in my truck. it was a little chillin out, -8 C so i let her idle for about 6 hours. can any damage come of this if done to much?

the only thing i would watch for while idleing like that which is only in the summer time is extra heat, other then that a diesel is designed to run not be shut off every 10 minutes.

Diesels are prone to use a little oil while idling for extended periods, check it then hammer on it a couple of times to clear the engine of any accumulation of carbon and soot. Good to go.

mine has the high idle, but wasnt cold enough for it. it rev's at 1200 rmp, then starts burning fuel. i heard of trans issues from extended idle times, or is that a myth?

You never mentioned the most important part!

How'd she sleep? How was it?

Bahahaa.. Ya id say letting it run since its that cold out is actually good for it! Like james said there made to run long. I was wondering the same thing if it was comfortable or not. Im 5'7 and I think it be cramped in the back. But, if you had heated seats the front might be more comfortable than your own bed!
