Question Advise-looking at my first duramax

Might be going to look at a truck today and wanted to get some pointers on what to look for good and bad. It's an '06 CC LB LBZ. What things do I want to watch for and stay away from? Is there a way to tell if it has been chipped/programmed? Any advise would be great, thanks.

Check out the exhaust manifolds to see if has been drilled and tapped, that will be a sign if towed alot of used a power adder.

That could be a good thing, the previous owner could have cared that the extra power didn't hurt his truck. I'm saving up for a pyro guage just to protect my truck with a programmer.

The LBZs are really good trucks and have no common problems. Like tyler said about the only way you can tell that it was programed is a pyro hole in the manifold, but just because theres not a hole doesn't mean it wasn't programmed. There is no sure fire way of knowing.

It doesn't do anything other than read the exhaust temp, but most people that run a tuner will have one. So if you see where one has been most likely it has had a chip or tune on it.

Well.....finally got to look at the truck and yea it was at a dealer. I can't always trust what they tell me so I wanted to know what to look for. It all looked ok except for an oil leak. It was enough to where it was dripping on ground, not alot but a spot nun the less. It seemed to be coming from the oil pan. That ruined it right there for me. I would think than an 06 with 70k would not leak quite yet! I put it off for now and I'll look at a few more to get my feet wet. Thanks.
