hard start after sitting

So I inherited my fathers truck after it sat for a while and it ran great. I didn't drive it much so it sat for a while, then started driving it more often. Recently Ihave been having a problem starting the truck after it sits a couple days. Cranks and cranks with no start. Popped the hood and primed the fuel filter and it will finally start. After it starts it runs perfectly fine, can go anywhere and restart it perfectly. Then I park it for a couple days and go to start it and have the same problem. So I pump the primer and it starts. I just changed the fuel filter on Saturday thinking maybe it was plugged. Truck sat until today and I tried starting it up and it cranked and cranked then it started, I didn't have to prime the fuel filter this time but felt like if I waited another day it might of not started. Anyone have any clue?

Fuel filter head may need rebuilt. You have an air leak in fuel system somewhere.
