Replacing glowplug 5, disconnect Battery?

Do you have to disconnect the batteries before you change out the plug? Will the engine light go off after the repair or do you have to reset the code and if so how is it done?

Replaced 1, 3, 5, and 7 on mine a few weeks ago (3 was the one causing the engine light). Removed tire and fender liner so I could get to them easier. Did not disconnect the batteries and reset the code myself with EFI Spade Jack, but any autoparts place can reset them for you. I figure I'll replace 2, 4, 6, and 8 when one of them goes out.

I can't remember the part # but I think I got the AC Delco brand... it was whatever Autozone had in stock... they were about $19 each. As far as the torque value, can't help you there. Don't have a torque wrench, so I just tightened them up firm... no issues.... yet.

My connector was badly corroded and barely attached. Replaced my glow plug but need to attach a new connector. The nut did not come with the new glow plug and the old one was rusted too badly...made a pigtal with a new butt joint to attach to existing red wire. Where do I get the wee nut. Guessing I now have to disconnect the batteries to attach the pigtail correct? The remaining plugs are not throwing codes but the nuts are well rusted...need advice...leave them or replace. I'm worried because there isn't much left of the nut to get the 8mm on. Any advice please?

No power on pigtail until truck commands them on so if key out you have no problem, then u gotta clear codes after, about the others I would leave them till they give u a problem, or if u can't sleep at night do all of em,

I got the tiny nuts at a hardware store. I think 5mm. They are also the same some RC car lug nuts , if you're into RC.

Thanks folks...just came back from home depot and got the nuts but they don't turn past one revolution. I bought 8/32s...are the threads on the ac Delco different Thread?
Anyone know? Would you guys consider stainless steel nuts and washers?

and i'm also positive that home depot doesn't carry them, you are going to have to hit up an actual hardware store (something like Ace or Rocky's)... hope that helps!
