| Help Tranny, EMC dont know? Alright here is where I am at. 04.5 2500HD some mods but the main issue is that out of the blue my truck started shifting weird. I accelerate slowly i am alright to about 70 then i have to let off a bit then it will shift up. If i put the hammer down it will hold in gear and have almost no power (couldn't even pass a civic in town!!) Also it bellows smoke like a cummins. So i took my programmer out to see if that might fix the problem (ppe hot 2+2) and no help only less smoke. Took it to the best shop here in SW Missouri Northeast Diesel and their scanner said it was the ECM so either buy a new one (ya right) or get mine rebuilt. Sent it off to Cardone/A1 in Pa. They call me back and said after going through it there was nothing wrong programming/physical problem wise. Called my diesel tech and he said he had no idea and he would have to trace all the wires to see if something has gotten loose. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Really could use some help. The only two things i have going for me is that my shop doesn't charge me for researching the problem only if they find the problem and fix it, and I have a car to get around in the mean time. Thanks for any help. |

| They will shift funny at the higher speeds like that if they do not get enough fuel rail pressure. Trans won't upshift at WOT

| Found the problem. The programmer was putting to much pressure on the TC from shift from 4 too 5 and it would throw a safety "switch" which dropped it into 4th and kept it there. Talk about piss'en people off at a stoplight stuck in 4th gear, cummins aint got nuthen on that. So once I dialed back the pressure and ease off the throttle during the shift everything is fine, but I am afraid the tranny is living on borrowed time.
