| P0401 - won't start Howdy everybody, I'm new to the forum and to owning a diesel. I've done quite a bit of maintenance on it so far but I'm not sure about this one. Truck started throwing P0401 a couple weeks ago when I was towing. I drove it a couple times and the light went off - read about this happening to other guys so I assumed all was well. Yesterday, my truck didn't start at all. Wouldn't turn over. Scanned it and the only thing was P0401 which popped back up. Unplugged both batteries for about 15 minutes, tried to start it up to take it into the shop, still wouldn't turn over. Batteries have anywhere from 11.6-13 when I try to start. So, is the P0401 keeping the truck from starting or is it something else? Is there a good forum on here with pictures and detailed instructions for cleaning the EGR on an LBZ?

| i have p0401 on my truck constantly and it hasnt caused any issues. I have heard of some trucks going into limp mode because of this, but never not starting. the only way to clean it is to completely disassemble the system. it could be the valve also. one cheap way to bypass the system is to get a fingerstick from kennedy diesel. its a few wires and egr can be blocked and not throw codes. iirc its about 50 bucks.
