| LBZ timing / injector rattle on spool up I have a 2006 LBZ and it is tuned with efi live by idaho rob, when I get on it there is a loud timing/injector rattle while it is spooling, it does it on all of the tunes but is more noticeable on the hotter tunes. Does this mean my injectors are going bad? Truck has 200k miles. Thanks. |

| fuel rattle maybe? doubt its timimg rattle with robs tunes.

| also truck doesnt make any more power on tune 5 vs 4. 4 makes the same power with less smoke and lower egts. But I am at high elevation, and dont get me wrong the truck runs like a raped ape, but 5 just smokes like a coal train. Just trying to figure out if my injectors are bad? |

| It's not timing rattle it is probably a fuel rattle. It is very hard to get timing rattle in a diesel. I had the same problem with a set of my tunes and I never did figure out what was causing it.

We could also get into transiant timing as well.....again, a timing setting problem based on transient load. Timing Rattle can also be worsened from poor quality, low cetane fuel that doesn't burn as smoothly. This resulting in pressure spikes in the cylinder..more of a explosion than a controlled burn. Anyhow, I really doubt it's advanced timing in Rob's tune, he's VERY VERY consevative on timing...but there could be a error. Usually other issues like EGT problems show up from that, especially on bigger tunes. Go back to Rob and give him the chance work it out for you.. Quote:
