Trans Swap

Long story short customer wants to swap trans out for a junk yard trans because his is bad. Any pointers or anything i should know about putting trans in like priming or anything like that? new suction filter? fill torque convertor? thanks in advance

I would deff get a new suction filter and fill the torque converter... I wouldnt ever get a junk yard auto unless I was able to see it working first but its not my choice. Just go the safe route and change filters

well i said the same thing but when thats what they want what can ya do.... how much fluid will be needed for this?... i have only installed these transmissions from fresh rebuild like a suncoast or something never a used one... what about priming the pump should i pour a couple qts and then crank it and let the trans pump the fluid

Well since it is used it will already have fluid in it. I have always just changed the filter and made sure the converter is full then filled it after installed until close and start the vehicle. shift through the gears and add more, repeat till full. You will need a little more fluid then a normal sump filter change.
