2006 Duramax 3/4 Ton SUV Project

I just picked up a 2006 DMax 4X4. I'm intending to swap the powertrain into a 3/4 ton Suburban or Yukon XL.

I believe I'll need to source a new radiator, charge cooler, fan, and core support to swap into the 3/4 ton SUV.

I figured this would be a good place to post on this, gather some opinions and advice from any who have done it before.

I know DuraBurb out of Florida is the expert in this, I hope to tap them as a resource.

I don't have a Suburban yet, but I know I need to look for a late GMT800 style 3/4 ton for the easiest swap of this LBZ. (2003-2006) Does anyone know the production date in which they went to the chassis harness that plays nice with the LBZ?

Anyone have an '03-'06 Suburban/Yukon XL with a blown engine but clean body and interior for cheap?

I also like the look of the facelifted Silverado front end on the SUVs, much like this picture. This is a non HD front end, but you get the picture.

Thanks for any advice and thoughts!

First off, welcome to the forum second that's a cool project and look into the 05-06 front end with the color headlight separator piece, I think it looks better. Good luck

Thanks!

Can you post a picture of that front end you are talking about? I'm not sure I've ever seen what you are describing.

Also looks like my pictures didn't load correctly into my post. The picasa album link at the bottom shows a few pictures.

Like this one? This is the standard front end on the '05 and '06 HD Chevys. Granted, this one has had some paint work done to it.

Got the truck delivered yesterday, started digging into what I have to work with.

Checked RPO codes, 3.73 axles, rear LSD, engine block heater. Fairly standard truck.

Anyone have any ideas what the, "Northwest Edition" got me? Probably just stickers?

Still on the hunt for a clean 3/4 ton '03 - '06 Yukon XL or Suburban!

Build thread!! Build thread!! Build thread!!

Do a build thread with pics. Wanting to do this myself, I would get one from Duraburb, but that's way too expensive for me. Building is the only option for me.
