| what truck do I have I bought a brand new 2007 Chevy Sil 2500HD dirtymax. Couple of questions I have. What truck do I have? I hear all this talk about LBZ LLY ???? I love this truck. I bought it in Feb of this year. I already have 14000 miles on it LOL. Today it said the fuel filter needs to be changed? I'm thinking there must be a reset like there was for the oil. What things should I look for? I want this thing to last. Heres a pic. 6" lift and 35" open countrys. |

| The filter is on the passenger's side of the engine compartment. It is pretty easy to change. Do you have the owner's manual for the truck? It has detailed instruction on how to change the filter. As far as the engine RPO code goes, you probably have a LBZ. Look at the 8th digit of the VIN and see if you have a D there. BTW, welcome to the site and nice truck! If you need the duramax manual, check this thread out: http://www.duramaxforum.com/forum/announcement.php?f=82

| Thank you! I just checked and it's a D. Yes I have the owners manuel. Looks like I should also be running an attitive in my fuel. What's the best stuff to run? Oh yea, what is the difference between the two motors? I heard the 3500 has 20 more HP is that true? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks |

| Nice looking truck !!
The fuel filter part number is 8980176840.
The LBZ is the 06 model year engine carried over to 07 until January (also called the "classic").
The LMM is the 07 model year engine (with a diesel particulate filter).
The LBZ is 360 hp, the LMM is 365 hp -- both have the same peak torque. |

Thanks | The 3500 and 2500HD have the same hp rating with the allison. You don't have to run an additive, but if you want, stanadyne and racor is the only "approved" additive for the fuel. You can use power service additive too. I have in the past when I couldn't get stanadyne.

| Yes, that is the filter that is referred to. There should be a magnet on top of the filter. Sometimes it comes off with the filter and sometimes it stays on the tranny.
