Well wrote off the DIC to not having the steering wheel controls but have some new question.

I am getting ready to switch to Synthetics. Oil should be here tomorrow, will flush out the engine before i change it over.
Is there anything else i have to do in order to switch the trans, axles and transfer case?
Do i need to just drain and refill?

I have a 2006 duramax. This year they had LLY/LBZ engines. My build sheet says i have a LLY, people say i have a detuned LBZ. Please tell me what that means? Does it mean i have the same MECHANICAL motor as one with a LBZ build code and just a different factory ECM calibration?

Last question. There was a Vendor on here that had Racor fuel filters on here and for the life of me can not find them. Can anyone point me to the vendorS that sell the new racor filters.

Drain and fill work just fine.

Take care,

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you have an SL model which I do believe will not have the DIC.

Transgo Jr. is a decent mod to the 6 sp allison and will handle up to 500 RWHP..any more power than that, suggest a built tranny.

If longetivity is of concern, you wish to look at these items:

Secondary oil Filtration - FS2500 or Amsoil - both are very good bypass filter set-ups and will lengthen your oil change intervals BIG time..especially nice if you are using synthetics.

Secondary fuel filtration - Nicatne or similar set up using a large CAT filter. If you do this mod, a lift pump might not be a bad idea - as pulling fuel through 2 filters before the cp3 can put extra strain on said injector pump.

Be carefull on air filters and suggest you research lots before changing from the OEM paper one (still the best filter out there IMOP), to a cleanable.

To my knowledge, your LLY is exactly the same as an LBZ - just de-tuned to 310 hp and I think that the airbox may be a smaller OD..not too sure on that one though.

The transgo JR is now in and I have installed synthetics thru the hole truck. The trans shifts well only thing I noticed is that the torque converter locks atittle hard but it is still relearning. Need to drive it tommorow for I need to tow a car back to pa tommorow.
