06-07.5 LBZ & LLY Duramax PowertrainDiscussion of components that are directly involved in the power production and all that is needed to get and keep the truck moving . Engine , Transmission Ect
Well I just got a new to me truck. I am also new to this forum and am already pleased by the knowledge that seems to be floating around here. It is a 06 LLY diesel with now 38000 miles. I am wondering what I should be doing to this truck for maintenance and if there are any recommendations of things to change down the road (fluids). I have not seen the oil life indicator come up in the odometer section. My last dmax had it. Was it turned off? All I have is an engine HR, trip and ODO readouts.
Another question is this truck has the 265 tire size on it however the truck has a passenger rated tire on the rim. I know that this is not the proper load capable tire for this truck. I got it from the dealer that way and they had them pumped up to 80 in the rear; passenger rated tires are not designed to take more than 40. Even unloaded of cargo if I have five people in the truck and minimal goodies should I worry about the integrity on these tires?
As far as the truck, I would go through ALL fluids and put in synthetic oil, syn trans fluid in transfer case and change the spin on filter for tranny. I wouldn't worry about axles or anti-freeze yet.
Tires, if they are passenger, I wouldn't drive another mile unless it was to the local tire dealer. You should be running load range E with a psi of 80. I run a D rated tire but I've gone up to the 285 size and actually have more load capacity than stock.
Again, I would change those tires out first.

I just bought on 06 LLY about a month ago. Going with Amsoil for the engine, probably tomorrow, then will do the transmission with it next month. Like you, I have been doing a lot of reading on this site. A lot of good info. I am looking at either a predator, quadzilla or edge evo tuner. Depending on the outcome of a trip to the dealer today for a check eng light, I may be doing the EGR block soon.
i would get rid of those tires you should be running a load range d or e passenger tires have a load amout that sometimes barley covers the weight of the truck just my .02

I would definitely get some E-Range Tires on her, she will also ride better than with your current tires.
And Yes Sire, Full Synthetics Throughout your Drive Train are the way to go for long life.
PM, Email, or call me directly @ 1-888-563-5143 if I can help you wade through the myths and truths about them and show you how to save up to 25% across the board on all of your vehicle maintenance needs.
I have Nitto Terra Grapplers on both of my trucks, and they did just fine this winter. We had ice on the roads for a month and a half, and they didn't slip around like I thought they would. They have good traction all around(summer, drag racing, winter driving, rain) IMO. I don't think you could ask for a better all around tire for the dollar.

Thanks for the input folks, now to figure out what it is i want for tires. Hopefully i can find some good deals.
Is there anyway to tell that the engine oil monitoring system is active before it tells you to change your oil.
Thanks
Daniel
there are a couple of tire vendors in the vendor jungle on this website. They might offer the best deal then drop ship to a local tire shop they have on file to install for you. Just food for thought.
