Yep, Red Line is a True "PAO" group IV synthetic as well.

As you can see there are many choices of true synthetics out there.....

Beware of the few group III oils that claim to be synthetic thanks to a court ruling on marketing...

Heres something to keep in mind. If you buy a new semi and switch the rearends to syn they will up the warranty to lifetime as long as you keep the reicept. So there is something to it.

There are diffent types of sythetics as you all know. Read the labels !!! Some are petroleum based and others aren't. The petroleum based ones can be mixed w/ conventional oils with no harm. If you mix some of the other types it causes a thick gunk - read the labels. GM already uses a synthetic in the rear diffs but not on the front in the 4wd pickups. I have used Amsoil 30 yrs ago in my old 76 4X4 in trans, difs and transfer case - worked great. I put it in the engine to soon and it used oil until I switched back to "dino" oil then let it break in before using it again.

When you switch to synthetic for engine, is it a must to switch tranny fluid?

no to that question. as for burning oil , in a gaser our policy in the shop is to brake the engine with dino oil first , at around 7 to 10000 km you can change to syn. i did the same for my diesel with redline, i didnt really have any guide line for diesel , hope all will be good

I use Mobil 1 on my wife's suburban it is of course superior to mineral oil, but on this baby here I've always used just regular 15W-40 Diesel Oil such as Delvac or Rotella, no complaints
Dude don't sweat it just change oil as computer ask you, use a good oil filter and that's that
