Speed rating? We're doin a 100+ mph in 4 high that was only engineered for 65 mph tops. I'm sure the rubber will hold up. Lol! Actually i had mine up to 157 for about 2 miles racing a little BMW headin to Vegas on 285 75 16 Pro Comp Xtreme MTs. I was more worried about the 1800 degree egts!

Let me get this straight. For a duramax owner to get "optimum milage", he would need to put on a set of tires 4" taller than stock? Wow! Has anyone told this secret to GM yet? Just kidding with ya man.

I think he is saying is this. Given a set of tires, regear such that your desired cruising speed is around 2000 rpm. I agree.

I would say 1900, but splitting hairs.

Sorry guys, but I disagree. After putting my 315s on (but before regearing) it cruised about 2000rpms at 74-75mph (like redbowtie said) but got horrible milage. It felt like it was right below the socalled "powerband" and had the worst turbo lag ever. But i guess if everyone elses truck (that runs this combo) is getting such good milage then maybe I have other problems to worry about.

Why would you experience turbo lag if you were on the hiway? Point is, 315's do get lousy mileage. Most people spend half or more of there time off the hiway. They suck in stop-go.

Thats what i'm sayin. If you put on bigger tires, then regear to compensate. And as for the turbo lag, I can't explain that. When i would speed up to pass someone, it just took forever for the turbo to rap up. Don't have that problem anymore though.
