Unhappy Squeak Squeak Squeak... WTF! ! !

Like the title says, squeak squeak squeak. October has not been my month. Already replaced the drivers side hub assembly in January and it's bad again. I have to take care of that. Just replaced the EGR cooler coolant hose. Now I think maybe my carrier bearing might be going out.
Squeaks primarily in reverse. Also going forward, not as much though. Keep in mind that rolling at idle the squeak is fast, almost like two mice humping on an old bed.
Drive forward on level ground it doesn't squeak. Drive downhill and let off accelerator and it squeaks.
Reverse on level ground and sqeaks LOUDER. Reverse downhill no squeak, then lightly on accelerator and squeak.
Either forward or reverse, while rolling about 3mph I put it in N and squeaking stops.
I'm happier knowing what the problem is. Even if it costs me a kidney and testicle.
How much and how hard?
Easier to convert to one piece?

Searched other threads, but my eyes hurt with the screen, so maybe like this i'll get a much more direct response.

All of your responses would be greatly appreciated.

sorry I don't have and advice for you, but it sounds like a riddle. I have a nasty squeak, sounds like thin sheet metal rubbing at idle in park, neutral, slow fwd and slow reverse. also in deceleration. Lets make it stop!

possible u-joints or brake backing plates rubbing. I would lean more toward u-joint or carrier bearing.

I'm gonna agree with duramax-rob. I just had the exact same symptom that you are describing and I also had thoughts that it may have been the carrier. However after removal of the drive shaft I found the carrier bearing to be just fine but the rear u joint at the differential was tight as hell. Replaced that and the other two on the rear axel as well just for preventative maintanance and all is good. No more squeak squeak squeak!

I will replace the joints and see if that will solve my problem. I don't know what a bad carrier bearing would sound like. I would think maybe it would be more of a constant sound rather than rapid squeaks.
Anyways, thank you. I'll keep yall posted on the outcome.

i did my carrier bearing on mine, cost me 178.00 just for the braring and have the old one removed and new one pressed on by a guy that does all our drive shafts for work. if you can would try to find a solid drive shaft from a salvage yard, thats my plan if it happens again.

diesel tech1, if i were to convert to a one piece what would be an ideal donor truck to go after. I would just take it and have them transfer the ends of my shaft to the donor shaft right and of course balance right?
what are the benefits of going one piece anyway?
being much longer and with out center support, would there be greater strain on the ujoints?
what ujoints would you recommend i install either one or two piece?
