10w40?? Is that oil rated for diesel? Make sure you are using the right oil...normally diesel oil is 5w40, 15w40, or 5w30 if you use AMSOIL HDD.

The GM answer to oil useage is 1 qt useage per 100 gallons of fuel. (about 4 tanks)

Diesel rated????? Crap! That may be the problem.

This is my first diesel. Guess I'll start using a better oil.

yeah look at the little label on there...i think it's supposed to say CJ-4 or CH-4...I cant remember...but if u use rotella, delo 400, delvac1 or similar that will be good. You do have a classic body style right?
