i tried disconnecting both cables and looks like it won't reset , so i will have to get a filter in the morning and see what that does .....

is there other things it could be or is this a common problem when filters get plugged??

i was just worried it was something more major

thanks
for any and all input

Its common if the filter hasn't been changed in a while or you got some bad fuel. But its always the first thing to check.

With the symptoms you have described it is most likely the fuel filter. The Duramax is not happy unless it gets plenty of fuel. It will also help if you clean the MAF sensor. You have a K&N filter and they are known to throw oil all over the MAF sensor. I have one on my LMM but I carry around a can of spray for when it happens.

I change mine with every oil change. Which is every 5000 miles.

Just cheap stuff. It comes in a black bottle and looks really cheap! Buy 4 quarts put one in the filter and the other 3 in the tank.
