Manual Shifting The Allison

HEY GUYS- QUESTION FOR YOU ALL. I'VE NEVER MANUALLY SHIFTED MY TRANS, WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF I WERE ALREADY UP TO SPEED AND SHIFTED OVER TO M POSITION ON MY SHIFTER- WOULD IT AUTOMATICALLY GO TO THE SAME GEAR I WAS IN WITH THE D POSITION? ALSO, THE OTHER WAY- SHIFTING MANUALLY AND THEN GOING TO DRIVE ON THE POSITION SELECTOR. WHEN YOU ARE SHIFTING MANUALLY WILL THE TORQUE CONVERTER LOCK UP? OR DO YOU HAVE TO BE IN TOW- HAUL MODE FOR THIS TO HAPPEN WHILE SHIFTTNG MANUALLY? THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANSWERS FELLOWS- JASON

When shifting from D to M it will stay in the same gear unless you shift it yourself. M to D it will find the best gear if it is not already there. Its perfectly fine to do this it will not hurt anything. Good Luck

Like stated above it won't hurt anything. But unless you are trying to hold a gear for some reason, i think you will find that you can not out smart the ally when it comes to shifting.

the Ally's computer will still overide stupid drivers such as leaving the manual shifter in 6TH gear at a dead stop the Allison will start out in 1ST gear like it should then proccede to shift to 6TH when the time has come to use that gear and works the other way around if a guy puts it in 1ST gear while traveling highway speeds the Ally will down shift as quickly as it safely can to 1ST gear but won't head for 1ST gear the moment you engage the manual mode in 1ST,GM thought all that thru before they let the puplic have the Manual mode feature...
just because i tested all that stuff out doesn't make me stupid although maybe a litte crazy but not stupid...I THINK...LOL
