I am also in the same boat. I hear they drop the EGTs a couple hundred degrees.

Yes it's definitely worth it. one of the smarter first mods. can be fun to install.

I just did this last week. def worth it. looks like egts dropped a few degrees and the truck is louder. As far as the install goes, its not that bad, the shield on the turbo doesnt come out, so i cut mine in half and just left it off. I think it took me a total of bout 3 hours, and i had my dad help me position the new one in place.

2 V ban clamps, 3 12mm turbo heat shield bolts, and 1 17mm bolt and the downpipe is off, pretty easy actually.

Not true. no difference in stock other than idling EGT's after driving.

i did mine when I had to do the hg's on my truck, It was easy then. I didnt see much improvement, but my truck is quieter at idle now.

You seem so sure of this....why would my egts drop on the same 7 mile stretch of highway. 700-750 down to 600-650.....yea same conditions mid summer 85* weather

Inaccurate guage readings, etc. I had 2 different EGT probes in my motor before and after I put a D.E. downpipe on, and only change was idle egt, and after a WOT run and then back to 300egt. Cruising was exactly the same; I cannot see how a 3' piece of pipe reduces egt's 50-150* with the same amount fo fuel coming out of the motor. With the tests that I did, it proved what I thought. but then again, im not Killlerbee

some say the down pipe makes the truck louder, some say it makes it quieter. i have the down pipe and about to do the install, just curious as to the difference in the sound.

On my truck it made it louder a bit at idle, and got rid of 75% of the WOT screech and more like a 6.0 ford; IMO.
