PPE air box mod

Who has done the air box mod? Have you had any regrets after doing it? I am thinking about doing it but im worried about filling the filter with snow or water in the rain. There must be a reason all that plastic is in there.

I ripped that little circular thing out and never looked back. Never really thought about the water issue. So far so good

I did it when my intake was stock. It doesn't do anything..also it doesn't rain here so I never had an issue.
