Are you running a straight pipe? I asked the same question, because I was going to remove my blocker, so I can blow some nice black smoke into jerkoffs windows. Can't remember who told me 05_lly, or ob_1jr, said the plate keeps soot out of the intake, and lets the engine run cleaner. I would say it's up to you. No it is not hard to install. Did mine myself, I am a mechanic, so it was easy. I would go with the kennedy diesel stick, and plate combo, and they have good directions on there website. kennedydiesel.com
The EGR blocker keeps soot from going back into the motor and wont set or stop codes what so ever!
