Well to start I bought an 06 LBZ crewcab with 111 miles. The first add on was the Edge Juice w attitude followed by an AFE turbo back 4" system. The first problem I ran into was when I would pull away from a stoplight and inbetween 2nd and 3rd gear the transmission would slip out of gear and the rpms would fall off to almost nothing. Just as soon as you lift your foot off the gas and reapply pressure everything would work as it should. After sending my chip back 2 times and then recieving a brand new chip, wire harness, pyrometer, and a new controller for the third and last try. While towing a 26' boat and merging onto I-95 around 45 mph the transmission unlocked while merging and then SLAMMED back into gear causing the whole truck to jump. I pulled over and unhooked the chip and plugged everything up in stock configuration. No more problems after this.
Next, I have a 4x4 buggy that I tow on a car hauler 16', estimated weight @ 6,000lbs combined. Every time I take a trip towing this sometime during the trip my check engine light comes on with the same code (EGR valve).
The truck has been to the dealership 12 times due to this problem. The mechanic at the dealership says, "The egr valve is working properly and there is nothing wrong that he can find. The only thing that could cause the code to come up is the aftermarket exhaust pipe, not allowing enough backpressure." I can take the exhaust off and put my stock exhaust back on, or I can drive around with my CHECK ENGINGE light on in my 06 truck.
I know there are some people out there that have built this truck sucessfully alot further than I was looking to go. Any help, comments, or ideas would greatly be appriciated.
So I gather you have a cat delete pipe on? If so, your cheapest fix would be to get an egr blocker and fingerstick from http://www.kennedydiesel.com/detail.cfm?ID=451 . As far as the other stuff, the tranny sounds like it needs to be reflashed at the dealer. I take it that once you took the edge off it shifts fine?

well the truck back to the dealer and have them upgrade the computer on the Allison and then sell the edge and buy the PPE Standard tuner and out it on the 2nd setting and the PPE disables the EGR so you wont get the P0401 or the P0403(i think there might be a P0404 also)codes after that install the EGR block plate to keep the soot ot of the EGR..

As soon as I took the Edge chip off the trans shifted fine and the only problem that remained was the once a month check engine light.
Does the PPE system have any sort of display or do you have to run gauges? The only part of the Edge system I liked was the display screen to monitor egt, turbo, etc. Thanks for the info.
no the PPE doesn't have the Display screen but i would invest into a set of Boost"n"Egt's gauges and you'llbe fine..

If you want digital displays...there are other options too...EDGE makes an outlook monitor that just monitors your truck...No tune.....Bully Dog makes a PMT that monitors and tunes....and Banks also makes a system that has digital displays as well. But if you could really care less between digital and guages....put a dual or triple pillar pod in your truck...they look nice. The cheapest Boost/EGT with pillar combo I could find was 275.00 for the parts from DieselNutMotorsports. He's a member on here.
