Since I'm gonna have to rebuild my rear end, is it worth the few extra benjamins to get the air locker. Mines only a 2wd, but at least I would know when it is really locked

i run a detroit in the back of my old truck works good little different though. ran an air locker and there is always a problem with the o-rings or the air line. i would go with an agressive limited slip. you dont run big enough tires to worry about breaking / or wearing out the cluthes. plus better drive ablity. just my two cents
I've allways liked to run Detroit lockers in the rear & air lockers in the front on my off road trucks. I don't think you could go wrong with either though. IMO The one good thing about the Detroit (or one similar) is it locks & unlocks it self. That way you don't have to think about flipping a switch when you need the extra traction.

Detroit locker is definitely the way to go......particularly the truetrac for a little better streetability. But if a locker is what you want I wouldn't bother with the ARB.......instead I'd look into an Eaton E-locker. I'm in the process of installing one in the front diff and man am I impressed.

I would get a limited slip for your style of truck
Detroit lockers can do some funny things while driving on-road
I have ARBs front and rear on my Jeep and its pretty much the hot ticket for rockcrawling but you cant really turn and it must be hell on the drivetrain
the ARBs have never let me down though

3 years I've had my ARB's in both axles,...never had any problems,..
I've seen 2wd trucks with a rear locker, go places a stock 4x4 can't....
I prefer ARB's over any other locker,,...select-ability,.....and if you ever read offroad magazines,....they are all slowly changing from Detriots to ARB's.....reliability and selectability...you can't beat an ARB locker.

ARB does make a good product.....but not everyone is interested in installing the required air compressor to make the system work. I think the E-locker will slowly take over the positive lock marketplace.

I put a Detroit Trutrac in my truck a few months ago and man let me say i am impressed....it works flawlessly on and offroad much better then my G80 did.
as far as im concerned if you're not off road all the time or like to crawl on rocks a good limited slip is the way to go
