I say just shim it unless you are having issues where the shims are not enough, like heavy fueling from modified cp3 or dual pumps.
Well its a long story but a fuel pin was lost in the shimming process and so I had to come up with an alternative, but the truck is low hp and should stay that way, so i'll be safe for now.

Im still in the air bout this race valve..i dnt want to spend the 45bucks on a dang bolt lookin thing if it isnt worth it. and i seen where ppe has the shim kit as well i may end up just tryin that. i would love to mod my cp3 cuz i plan on running a bigger turbo sumtime b4 next summer if anyone has any thing to add or tell me bout that, appreciate them help

like I said, go with the shims. If you are running the pressure to bypass the relief valve, then you may need a race valve. 9 times out of 10 it takes more than a stock cp3 and a big tune to get by the relief valve.
i would like a moded cp3 if theres much advantage to them.. really want duals but way to much cash for this guy

On my case, I was getting pressure drop with stage 4 or 5 on PPE, I called them and got the Ported Fuel rail fitting and the shim kit, and problem solved, at least for now, dont think I want to run higher than this without Tranny upgrade. If you plan on going higher on HP you need to start from the simple stuff up to the big upgrades.... again those are my .02 cents!
