ppe question?

What does the ppe adjustable gear ratio actually do? Does it just re-calibrate the speedo for what gears you choose? why im asking is, if I dont "actually" re-gear the truck in the diff's but change the gear ratio of the truck with ppe will it raise the rpm's going from 3.73 to 4.10?

Thats a good question! I never thought about that. I dont think it has anything to do with the wheels speed. Thats what the tire height is for.

ok thats what i was wondering. i did change the tire height for my tires but the problem is i get better fuel mileage with my tow/haul button on because it brings the rpm crusing speed back up. for example @ 70 mph im at 1600 rpm and with tow/haul on it raises it to about 1800 rpm at 70 mph. so i was trying to see if i just change the gear ratio with the ppe form 3.73 to 4.10 it would throw my speedo off but raise the rpm's by a few hundred? Does this sound dumb?

The only way to change the gear ratio is to change the gears.
You are lugging the motor in 6th because of the wheels/tires. The only way to correct this without a gear change is EFILive. It could be used to raise shift points, keeping you in 5th instead of going into 6th.

Or you could put it in manual mode and leave it in 5th.
