I would like to see other filter companies use the ISO 5011 testing on their filters so we could all see the results. I think there is a reason they dont. Im not saying all others are bad, but it is nice to see concrete evidence sometimes instead of false HP claims with BS graphs.
I should of stated the post with what filter works best in the LBZ cause I still don't know, thanks for all the info and keep it coming. Going to look more into the S&B filters for now.
ISO standard testing, unfortunately is also easily misrepresented. All you have to do is produce a whole bunch of numbers, put a good marketing rep on video with a smile, and you have yourself a snow job. If the population would become less ignorant, this would not be such a sham.
I wish i could get people to just send me their bank account information.
I have talked with a few different chevy mechanics on the options of cold air intakes. The only advice I can give is, do not use the filters that you have to add oil to yourself. Everyone of the mechanics I talked to said that there were alot of problems reported cause alot of people were adding to much oil to the filters and it was causing alot of problems with the sesors, or you can add to little oil and not have the protection you need.
Basically what it boils down to is, if you're not smart enough to read instructions and keep an eye on your filter, then don't get an oiled filter. I've used them all my life and my uncle has been a diesel mechanic for over 20 years, and he's used nothing but oil with great results. Plus not to knock anyone, but mechanics and the dealerships don't know crap. When I first bought my truck I needed to know if my 07 classic could take LSD and ULSD, 7 dealerships later only 1 guy knew what a Duramax was and told me the answer. And this was on a trip from PA to SC and I physically stopped at that many dealerships...so this isn't just PA.

Ya, what he said. I just thought an oil air filter would probably grab more dust and take more maintenance. But he soulds like he knows more about the subject. And He is right about the dealership mechanics or should I call the parts changers.

Caveat Emptor
Just what is ISO anyway. I had someone tell me that if a product was ISO certified it meant all the ones produced were consistently the same. Not that they were good or bad just consistent. So if thats right whats an ISO rating really worth.

It is a standardized testing method, for comparing one against the other in this case.
Sounds impressive, and more importantly, it lends credibility to otherwise worthless claims. That is what people in general need to see...worthless claims dressed up in clever marketing.
